Viktor&Rolf

  • Fashion designer

In a career spanning more than 20 years, Viktor&Rolf (both born 1969) gave Dutch fashion a face abroad. Viktor & Rolf creations are radical, sculptural, ironic, extravagant and make a statement about fashion itself.

The duo is also very successful in business, having worked with such diverse partners as KLM, Samsonite, Bugaboo, and cosmetics house Shu Uemura and also created a collection for H&M. In December 2013, they opened their first flagship store on the prestigious rue Saint-Honoré in Paris. Their perfume Flowerbomb was a resounding success and they have launched a new perfume, Bonbon. In 2013, Viktor&Rolf returned to haute couture, with dancers dressed in latex from the Dutch National Ballet collaborating on their Paris show. Viktor&Rolf designed the costumes for the ballet company’s subsequent production, as they have done before for an opera.

Their work has also received a huge number of prizes, starting in 1993 with the press award during Hyères, the world's premier international fashion festival and competition.

'In our minds, fashion and art are not separate entities. We have always worked with fashion as a tool, as a means of artistic expression. Fashion itself is a continuous source of inspiration. Fashion, and what it can be, its boundaries and its possibilities and impossibilities.' - Viktor & Rolf
