Visual artist, curator, researcher and writer Charl Landvreugd (born 1971) creates new frameworks for thinking about migration history, culture and historical power relations.

In doing so, he examines the norms of European art and knowledge production. His sculptures, ceramics, videos, performances, photographs and written works focus on the production of afro-subjectivity in the Netherlands and Europe. His work is hybrid and futuristic with layered subjectivity as a central theme. His work has been shown at the Witte de With Center for Contemporary Art in Rotterdam and the Van Abbemuseum in Eindhoven. This year, Landvreugd will complete his doctoral research at the Royal College of Art in London.
