Maxim Februari

Writer Maxim Februari (born 1963) is a philosopher, lawyer and art historian. He knows how to put important social issues on the agenda, such as the complexity of legal protection combined with IT and the malleability of bodies and lives. 

Recent publications include Klont (2017), De onbetrouwbare verteller (2019) and Doe zelf normaal (2023). His novels and columns discuss the value of literature in a rapidly changing world. His texts on the meaning of new technologies contribute to the public debate. He is involved in proceedings on the merits against the Dutch state concerning the use of the risk profiling system SyRI, used to detect suspicious behaviour.   

Maxim Februari has received several literary awards for his work, including the Frans Kellendonkprijs and the Multatuliprijs, the C.C.S. Croneprijs and the P.C. Hooftprijs.
